All,

It would seem we are missing 3 club reg sets  Sad, last audit, check and clean was April 2009 where we tallied 6 reg sets, later another appeared making a total of 7 reg sets. We now seem to only have 4 reg sets in the equipment shed.

Can I ask all trainers, trainees and club members to check if they still have any of the club reg sets and let Nabs (equipment officer) know and more importantly return them to the equipment shed where they can be checked for safety by the equipment Officer. If you have any need to retain a reg set then please contact Nabs or Steve Gould (training officer) and let them know giving the reason.

It is important to the club that we have sufficient equipment to carry out training, having to replace lost equipment eats into the club funds and delays other purchases such as boats, compressors etc.

Regards,

Dermot

Dermot,

Thanks for that post about the Equipment,

Anyone turning up at the club this weekend will notice a shortage of Cylinders, I have taken 6 Ally cylinders this evening for an early morning trip to the servicing shop in Dubai.

There are 4 cyls which are in test by the bench but have faulty valves I would appreciate it if these remain there till they can be looked at. The stack (collective name for a pile of cyls!) of Cylinders which Neil B brought over and are just through the door on the right need sorting through hopefully next week.

There are also several private Cyls which are out of test under the rack could if anyone knows the owners could they enquire if they want them testing or could they remove them,

It is worthy of note that when there is a shortage of cylinders for diving, private ones have been borrowed, if you are happy for this to continue with your equipment we could have a area for cylinders that may be used when the owner is not about and an area for "keep your hands off mi tank". Thoughts please on this

Thats all for now

Cheers Nabs

Hey Troops,
I have finally had the back operation and I am on the slow road to recovery. I anticipate a week of lying about in recovery mode followed by 2 weeks of sheer boredom. If there is any 'light' home maintenance that can be done on club equip let me know and I'll be happy to gently tap things with a very small hammer. I'll have to get someone to drop any gear at my home as I'm banned from driving for the full 3 weeks.
Bye for now.

Do you have space in your living room for Big Blue?

Compressor Pump is on it's way from the UK. It has been collected by the shipping agents so within the month it will be here.....you can watch us sweat as we fit it!

Get well soon......

Kerry,

Good to hear you are still in the land of the living and glad to see you on the road to recovery.

Don't think your light hammer will sort big blue though!

Look forward to seeing you back (could not resist the pun!)

Cheers,

You may find it hard, if not almost impossible to locate new steel cylinders in Muscat.

New aluminum S80's are in the region of OMR 90 depending on which outlet you go to.

As Steve says steel cylinders are hard to find and the ones you will find are often American Genesis cylinders. Whilst there is nothing wrong with the origin they do use 7/8th inch UNF valves which are a bit different to everything else you will find in the market and thus not so easy to get hold of should you need a replacement.

Scuba Dubai would seem to be a better bet as they sell Faber cylinders that have an M25 thread and are EN BS marked so if you take them to Europe you should have no problem getting them filled or tested.
